lego
The history of LegoThe Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from Denmark, who started off making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called "Lego", from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play-well". In 1947, they moved on to plastic and in 1949, the "automatic binding bricks" which although primeraly made in wood before soon being changed to the unlikely plastic, was shaped in the same way as blocks are today with a disk at the top of one that slides into the bottom of another.
Lego started off as a very unsofisticated thing, where you were never really hoping for something that would look like the real thing, like a plane, or a car, but now, with such a large number of pieces at our disposal, it is much easier to replicate the real thing.
